Most people only call a garage door company when something breaks. Totally understandable. But here's the thing - a door that opens and closes just fine can still be letting in water, dirt, drafts, and pests if the seals and trim around it have worn out.

That's exactly what we want to talk about. Two of the most overlooked parts of any garage door are the bottom weather seal and the exterior vinyl trim. The bottom seal is that rubber or vinyl strip running along the bottom edge of your door. The trim lines the sides and top of the door frame. Over time, both take a beating from sun, rain, and general wear. They crack, they pull away, they stop doing their job.

When that happens, your garage stops being a sealed space. You get water creeping in during a hard rain. Leaves blowing under the door. Cold air - or summer humidity - making its way inside. And in some cases, mice and insects finding a gap they're happy to use. None of that is a broken door. It's just a door that needs some attention.

We replace bottom weather seals and exterior vinyl trim all the time for homeowners across Wake Forest, Raleigh, and the surrounding Triangle communities. It's one of those services that doesn't get a lot of attention, but makes a real difference in how well your garage performs. Fresh seals and trim also give the whole door a cleaner, more finished look - which is a nice bonus.

With nearly 27 years of garage door experience, we've seen what happens when this kind of maintenance gets put off. A little wear becomes a bigger problem. Catching it early is always the better call.
